Privacy
This site keeps its own record of how it is used, so we can see which research is read, how far, and where readers come from, and so we notice automated access. This page says exactly what that record contains. The site also runs Google Analytics, described at the end.
What a page view records
When a page opens, it sends us a short note with:
- the page and its title;
- the page you came from, if it was on this site, or only the name of the other website if it was not;
- any campaign tag in the link you followed (
utm_source,utm_medium,utm_campaign), and nothing else from the address.
When you leave the page or switch away from it, a second note says how long it was open and in use, how far down you scrolled, and the last section heading you reached. Clicks on links that leave the site, on downloads, on email links and on the games are noted with where they point.
What the connection tells us
Cloudflare, which serves the site, tells us the country and the network (ASN and its operator) the connection comes from, the browser's user agent and the client hints it sends, the language it asks for, and the TLS version, cipher and HTTP version of the connection, with hashes of the TLS handshake parameters. Where one is available we also record a JA4 fingerprint of the handshake. These describe the software making the connection, not the person using it.
What we do not record
- Your IP address. It is used for a moment to make the visitor code below, and never stored.
- Cookies. Our record sets none and stores nothing in your browser.
- Your screen, fonts, device settings or anything else read out of the browser.
The record stays with us. We do not sell it or share it.
How visits are linked
To count visitors without keeping IP addresses, the server makes a one-way code from your IP address, your user agent and a random value that is replaced every day. Page views on the same day share a code; views on different days cannot be linked, because the random values are deleted after a day.
If you ask not to be tracked
If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, a page view records the page and the country, and nothing else: no visitor code, no user agent, no reading time and no clicks.
How long
Records are deleted after 90 days.
Google Analytics
The site also runs Google Analytics 4. It sets its own cookies and sends information about your visit
to Google, which processes it under
Google's privacy policy.
Blocking googletagmanager.com in your browser stops it without affecting the site.
Who holds it
Kinryū Labs. The record is stored with Cloudflare, which processes it for us. Questions, or a request about a visit of yours: contact us.
